VexLabs parts

Up

VexLabs components are now legal for competition, with the exception of their pneumatics kit.  They have added many structural pieces that seem very useful, as well as the expected pieces from the existing Vex kit.  They have packaged chassis kits of various sizes, and have longer fasteners.  One very nice point - most parts are available in single unit quantity.

We started with the Robovation (previously EduBot) kit from IFI, so we have prior experience with their base components.  The metals are just the same, except for anodized fasteners.  The new metal components are very useful!

  1. Angle beams (1x1) - 15, 25 & 35 holes long
  2. Angle beams (1x1) with slots - 30 holes long, available inverted for mirroring.
  3. Angle beams (2x2) - 25 & 35 holes long
  4. Angle beams (3x3) - 25 holes long
  5. C-channel beams (1x2x1) - 15, 25 & 35 holes long
  6. Chassis rail (2x1) - 25 & 35 holes long
  7. Chassis rail (3x2) - 25 & 35 holes long
  8. Plate (25x5) - rectangle 25 holes long by 5 holes wide
  9. Bar (1) - 25 holes long
  10. Various miscellaneous metals
  11. 8-32 screws in lengths up to 2" (by 1/4" increments)
  12. Threaded beams (standoffs) up to 6" long
  13. 0.1227 pitch chain and sprockets (Vex standard is .25 pitch)
  14. PWM extension cables - 6", 12", 24" & 36" lengths

The wheels are soft foam, as model airplane wheels, and don't support a lot of mass (and crease easily).  The chains & sprockets are strong, but a smaller size than the Radio Shack Vex versions.  The PWM extension cables are critical, as no hand wiring is allowed under the FVC rules!
